Closing out another year and looking forward to 2022!

At the end of the year, it is customary to look back at the preceding 12 months as well as to look forward at what the future holds. I doubt anyone expected to still be talking about social distancing, mask wearing, and virtual gatherings at the end of 2021. Yet, here we are. If there is anything this pandemic has taught us, it is to not take anything for granted, to expect the unexpected and to be mobile and agile.

In 2021 we saw the completion of several exciting projects, while marking the beginning of others.

This year, we witnessed the successful completion of the first phase of construction of the SoMA district development plan in Detroit. The SoMA parking structure, designed by our team in association with Neumann Smith Architecture, is a 6-story, mixed-use parking structure with 591 parking spaces and ground level retail.

The 600-space parking structure, built to serve the new Doug Meijer Medical Innovation Building (MIB) in downtown Grand Rapids, is complete. The structure was designed and engineered to accommodate a liner building, which is currently under construction. The 125,000 square foot liner building will be the new headquarters for self-care product manufacturer, Perrigo.

We observed the successful completion of the ‘The Griffin’ in Royal Oak, Michigan. This large multi-family mixed-use development is wrapped around a 450-space, six-level parking structure designed by our team.

In 2022 we are looking forward to the completion of several exciting projects as well as the beginning of new projects.

The Gannon Garage at Lansing Community College, a new 5-level, 1,777 space parking garage, is currently under construction and is on schedule to open in August 2022.

Construction of the Bagley Parking Hub, part of a landmark 30-acre mobility Innovation District being built by Ford Motor Company around Michigan Central Station in Detroit, is on track for a June 2022 opening.

Our planning team has also been busy in 2021, completing parking studies in Clawson, Detroit and Monroe, Michigan, as well as Surf City, North Carolina. They are hitting the ground running in 2022 with a large study in Cleveland, Ohio.

From all of us at Rich & Associates, Inc. we hope your holiday season is blessed with very merry memories. We look forward to working with you in the coming year. Peace on Earth and Happy New Year to All!
