The GRIP Structure is Complete!

In early 2019 we broke news of an expansion of the MSU Grand Rapids Research Center, a six-story, 162,800-square-foot facility that opened its doors in Grand Rapids, Michigan in September of 2017. In 2019 a long-term ground lease was signed to allow for the continued development of the Grand Rapids Research Center site. This lease includes construction of a new Doug Meijer Medical Innovation Building (MIB) and a new 600-space parking structure to support the MIB.

On November 19, 2019 excavation began and significant site work was underway to prepare the site for both the MIB and parking structure. Construction on the parking structure started in February of 2020 and was completed earlier this year. The Doug Meijer Medical Innovation Building is still under construction and on track for an opening date later in 2021.
